Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is an American manufacturer of aircraft and helicopters. It was founded in 1923 by Russian-American aircraft engineer Egor Sikorsky. The company is headquartered in Statford, Connecticut. Sikorsky designed the first stable, single-engine maneuverable helicopter and began mass production in 1942.
In 1934 Sikorsky became a subsidiary of United Aircraft Corporation (now United Technologies Corporation). Sikorsky is one of the leading helicopter manufacturers in the United States, currently best known for its UH-60 Black Hawk. The helicopter used by the President of the United States (Marine One) has also been using Sikorsky products, and the current Marine One fleet consists of one VH-3 (H-3 Seahorse) and one VH-60 (UH-60 Black Hawk).
