With the continuous development of science and technology, research on robots for elderly assistance, disability assistance and medical rehabilitation has been rapidly developed. Hemiplegia, also called hemiplegia, is a movement disorder of one upper and lower limb, facial and lower tongue muscles, and it is a common symptom of acute cerebrovascular disease [1]. In addition to early surgical treatment and necessary medication, patients with hemiplegia need to use physiotherapy scientifically to supplement the medication to achieve rehabilitation and consolidation of the patient’s upper limb motor function [2]. This project aims to design a robot with four degrees of freedom for the rehabilitation of upper limbs of patients with hemiplegia caused by stroke, which can perform shoulder flexion and extension, rotation, internal and external pendulum, and elbow flexion and extension, respectively, to help patients regain upper limb function as soon as possible.
In this project, we will design a chain-driven upper limb rehabilitation robot for hemiplegic patients using robotics and CAD software.
