Daimler launched its 2nd world engine, the DD13, with an investment of over $1 billion, covering displacements from 10.6 to 15.6 L. The larger 2 displacements were 14.8 L and 15.6 L. The 14.6 L was of a more typical American size, while the 15.6 L carried a distinctly European size.
Gottlieb Daimler was born on March 17, 1834 in Sch??ndorf am Rheims, W??rttemberg, Germany, to a family of craftsmen and a bakery owner, and in 1852 he attended the Stuttgart Engineering College. As a teenager, Daimler became interested in gas engines and began to study the development of the Otto-type gas engine. in 1872, Daimler designed a four-stroke engine, and in 1883, in collaboration with his friend, the famous inventor Wilhelm Maybach, he succeeded in developing an engine that used gasoline. In 1886, Daimler installed this engine in the carriage he had bought for his wife’s 43rd birthday, creating the first Daimler car.
