10-Cylinder Double-Row Sleeve Valve Radial Engine SolidWorks
A 10-cylinder twin-row sleeve valve radial engine SW design 3D model of a sleeve valve engine has a pair of actuators that enable the sleeve to move in a compound motion, which provides improved opening and closing of the air ports. One actuator utilizes an engine-driven first gear to provide eccentric motion to the sleeve via a cam and follower. The other actuator utilizes an engine-driven second gear to provide small synchronous rotations to the sleeve through the eccentric pin and slotted sleeve. One driver allows axial response and does not prevent rotational response to the other driver. The sleeve path allows for a higher, narrower gas port, which allows the piston ring to be closer to the top of the piston, and this reduces emissions.
